Available as a free to try software application, with certain functional limitations, ElcomSoft System Recovery is supported on various Windows platforms such as Windows 98, 2000, 2003, 2008, 7, XP, Vista, and Server systems. Designed and developed by ElcomSoft, this tool is intended to help users unlock their systems and regain access by using a quick unlock option. This tool is capable of resetting the forgotten or lost passwords of a system by replacing it with a user-specified password. However, this tool works only for systems that do not have EFS encrypted files. This utility is capable of detecting the location where the system files are cached, and thus helps in unlocking the PC.
