Foxit Reader

A free to use software application; Foxit Reader was published, as an alternative for Adobe Reader, by Foxit Software. Although not as sophisticated and advanced in its array of functionalities, as Adobe, this PDF software also promises to give its users an array of functions that will help them use and manipulate PDF documents with ease. Supported in Windows 7, XP, and Vista versions; this utility offers support for various browser software including Safari, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera, which can be implemented optionally using various add-on utilities.

Designed to be sleek and arranged with clean and clear buttons and icons, the interface comes through as a neat design with user-friendly features to access various options offered by the tool. The utility also offers the option to customize the toolbars to make frequently used features more accessible and keep the interface free of rarely used functionalities. It follows the same ribbon-style menu options, as is found in Adobe, but allows the user to choose between various Color schemes for the interface, with intent to add a personal touch. You can also create your own short cut keys to access often used functionalities, to speed up your tasks.

The tool also claims to offer quite a few functionalities that you will not find in other Readers, including that of Adobe. These include the ability to view multiple PDF documents in different tabs, opening documents in Safe Mode and Text-only view mode, adding rulers to PDF documents, and tools for highlighting and commenting. Some of the other features included are support for MS RMS-protected files, XFA form filling, and ability to preview PDF documents in Outlook. The only limitation of this tool is its cumbersome installation process, which can be time-consuming and tedious in comparison to other Reader software. All the same, once installed the tool claims to offer several features that make this application a worthwhile choice.
