EXEscanner is a very light command-line Python based application that is engineered to help the user to find any abnormalities or malfunctioning in Portable Executable i.e. EXE/DLL files. This utility tool quickly scans the item selected and reveals if any anomalies exists in the header field. This application is also capable of showing differences in checksums, wrong size of raw data, dimension if header field and many more. This software can scan and display 6 different types of executable programs even if the items do not have the extension as “exe”.

EXEscanner enables the user to view bitmap, dialogs, icons, strings, cursors, and binary resources in any executable file. These are the 6 different types of programs. Each of the program or resource can be exported or imported. Importing allows enhancement of the resource within the executable file along with an external file while exporting allows saving and extracting the resource as a single file.

EXEscanner has an advanced heuristic based detection technology which is accurate majority of the times and finds the needed .exe file on prior scanning. It can trace down the required .exe file even if it is hidden in any specific directory. Any of the operating system mentioned here do well with EXEscanner; Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8.
