ZoomText is not for the advanced user. It is for those users who are handling a computer device for the first time in their lives. The software lacks the advanced tools that some of its peers bring with them. However it covers all the basic ones and has a very comprehensive help section causing us to believe that it is meant for novices.

The advanced features that have gone missing from this software are pronunciation correction, Braille device output capability, announcement of the text style and narration of the menu items. It can however do the basics right. It echoes each letter and each word as you type them. It also identifies punctuations and announces them. It does not change inflection on changing the alphabets case but sounds a prefix before announcing an upper case alphabet. There is an inbuilt screen zoom option though it messes with the speed of the system.

The ease of access of this software is amazing. The interface is simple to understand and the buttons are labeled in such a fashion that you won’t be calling out for help often. The help and support could do away with the registration process and should introduce a telephonic support system though. In spite of its little shortcomings, the software is worth investing into.
