VMware Player

VMware Player is an easy to use application that allows every computer user to run a virtual machine on his current operating system. The application is compatible with every Windows OS that may be used on the host machine and it also supports a large number of guest operating systems that can be installed within the virtual PC. VMware is absolutely free for personal use and its functionality is not reduced because of this. Although other virtual machine providers do not provide a user-friendly UI, this one makes it easy even for beginners to run a secondary OS.

After the installation process is complete, users can opt to launch the tool and they will receive first-time tips that will be really helpful in creating the first virtual machine. First of all, users can set the size amount for a new partition that will be used by the virtual environment. Afterwards, users can easily install various operating systems by using a bootable USB flash drive that contains the OS installation files. The process is identical to the one used for a normal OS installation. If the partition is smaller than the installation size, users will be prompted and they will have to resize the disk.

Restricted virtual machines can be created, too, and users can easily test various applications or even malware in order to see different effects that these malicious elements might have. Virtual machines can now work in dedicated environments, which means that the host computer can provide all of its resources in order to run such a virtual operating system. This way, multiple extensive tests related to any OS can be accomplished. A virtual machine can be shared over a network and different users can have special permissions while working inside such an environment.
