Storyist is an affordable screenwriting tool that not only helps you to write and format a good screenplay but also helps you to develop story and characters. Scripting is made very easy using Storyist with various video tutorials and manuals as a quick start guide. You will ease into the UI and start working almost instantly. It uses Tab and Return Key commands to format the script to Hollywood standards.
The Style Chooser tool can be used to select what you want to type next, such as a scene heading or a dialogue. The Styles Chooser can be found on the toolbar that opens up on the Inspector Window. There are three general windows in Storyist: the Toolbar at the top, the Project View on the left (where scenes are organized) and Text View on the right (where you write).
Other features include color coding, adding elements, using an outline view to develop and organize a story, adding comments and adding elements to the plot. Storyist also provides tools to develop characters and create scene sheets. The templates supported by Storyist include Blank, Stage Play, Screenplay and Novel. Files can be exported as HTML, Final Draft and rich text format.
