PowerDVD is an application which is designed to work with DVDs, but it manages to provide support to all sorts of video and audio file formats without the need of external codecs. The utility is simple to use and its configuration screens are easily understandable by novices, too. In fact, the standard options are optimized for one’s system, especially when it comes to the audio output.

PowerDVD has a nice interface and its theme can be changed with others that have various colors and not only. Subtitles of MKV files can be extracted as PGS files so that users can freely edit them. Although the tool can work well offline, there is also the possibility to stream videos and audio tracks from networks, such as is the case of radio stations. Music, videos and even images are loaded instantly within the playlist and can be played back with no delays at all.

PowerDVD also features a mini mode, similar to a widget which can be kept on screen for quick song changing. There are a lot of keyboard shortcuts that can be configured to work with the app and there are already a few which are preset. Videos from YouTube can also be played if the user provides a link towards a video.
