Comodo Firewall is an application designed to increase the security of a system while users browse the internet and despite the fact that this is a free tool, there are a lot of features added into it that everyone will enjoy. Nowadays, the firewall is the first method of protection that one should use in order to avoid viruses, malware, spyware and other harmful threats. The installation process is simple and during this phase, users can already choose how to configure their tool in order to benefit from the highest levels of protection.

There are multiple standard profiles that can be used in order for one to configure the firewall and they can be easily set up using a slider. On the slider, there are six different security levels, but only five of them are standard. The sixth one will be automatically assigned when the user designates custom settings that should be used by the application. Each of the levels will impose different restrictions regarding web content and they can be chosen depending on the user’s needs. The lower security levels will provide ad blocking and pop-ups, while higher levels of security completely block access to various malicious websites that are scanned.

A traffic monitoring tool is added into the application and malicious attempts at scanning ports, for example, will immediately be detected and reported by the program. Users can choose to automatically have such elements blocked, but they can also manually decide what action should be taken. As certain programs might have their internet access blocked because of false-positives or because of a higher security level, users can create a white list on which they can add all of their required applications that will bypass the rules defined in the firewall’s current profile.
