ClamWin Antivirus is an antivirus to provide protection for the computers which use MS-Windows. The protection offered by it is although of basic level, but nonetheless good. It comes without the bells and whistles of the so-called ‘modern’ security suits and the interface is also not very sleek, but it knows its job and performs competently. This open-source antivirus is completely free to download and use. It integrates well with the Microsoft tools and products like Windows Explorer and Microsoft Outlook.

Rather, the software comes with an installer who gives the user the options to integrate the program with Explorer and install the Outlook module. The security engine works efficiently to protect the computer against all kinds of latest bugs, rootkits, Trojan Horses, cookies and other various malwares. Updates of latest virus definitions are regularly acquired by the antivirus. With meticulous care ClamWin Antivirus scans the entire computer, hunting down every single malicious code from the system and fixing them.

A detailed report of the scan is presented after each performance, also allowing the user to choose the necessary step to be taken—repairing of the infected files or complete removal. The user can also schedule times for the next scan. In the Settings menu one can find a plethora of useful options and tools for internet updates, proxy servers and so on. On the downside, ClamWin Antivirus does not provide real-time protection, so the user has to manually run the scan to find and remove the infected file. It also requires moderate amount of resources and may slow down the computer a bit.
