Ashampoo Photo Commander

Ashampoo Photo Commander is an image editing software that gives the user a chance to enjoy basic image editing options. The software is good only for people who are probably looking for a quick fix and do not have much knowledge about the high end editing options. Having said that, the software lacks the sophisticated tools that come with professional editing software’s.

The user interface is quite simple with a menu bar, two toolbars, an image browser and a timeline stuffed with filtering options. Though it offers a wide variety of features, it stops short of few basic ones. One of these is the ability to rotate vertical photos automatically. Even Windows Explorer is capable of rotating images based on the meta data embedded by the camera on to a picture taken sideways. Another aspect in which Windows explorer beats Ashampoo Photo Commander is the speed of accessing an image folder. Even on most powerful systems, the software has a lag of a few seconds before it can display all thumbnails in a folder containing images.

Ashampoo Photo Commander tries to compensate for this shoddy product by adding endless features and advertising them. However all of this comes at a price. With free image editing software’s flooding the market and delivering a performance as good, Ashampoo Photo Commander needs to reconsider their priorities and deal with the basic flaws first.
