AkelPad is a fast, lightweight alternative for notepad as the default editor for Windows. It can also be used as an integrated application for third party software like Total Commander. It is an open source editor for plain text. It features three modes of operation : Single Window, Multi Window and Pseudo Multi Window mode. It is specifically built to correct some of the shortcomings of Notepad while you edit plain text files such as code. It has a simple interface and very easy to use. You can change the language, fonts, colors and set the newline format for DOS/Windows, Unix or Mac.
